Senator Cory Booker announced on Monday, January 13, that he withdraws from the race for the nomination for President from the Democrats in 2020.
In an email to his supporters, Booker cited a number of reasons: first of all, the lack of money to continue the campaign.
«Our campaign has reached the point where we need more money to build and continue to build a race that could end with a victory. The money we have, and I will be harder to collect them, because I won’t be in the next stage of debate. Urgent matters of impeachment keep me in Washington,» wrote Cory Booker.
He also released a video address with gratitude to all who supported him.
According to political analysts, Booker was considered a powerful speaker for the campaign, but his candidacy never would have found significant support among voters-Democrats, because they expect the candidate best suited to win the Donald trump.
In his letter to supporters, Booker also wrote:
«I have always believed that the answer to the common pain felt by Americans now, the answer to hate Donald trump is to re-embody our spirit of common purpose to build a more equitable country. I still believe in it. I am proud that I never threatened my belief in those principles in his campaign to score political points.»
Booker intends to run for re-election to the Senate. Cory Booker was one of three African Americans, to claim the nomination from the Democratic party. Another, Senator Kamala Harris from California, withdrew from the race last month.
While candidates from the minority remaining in the race are businessman Andrew young and former Massachusetts Governor Patrick Deval.
