Manufacturer of cleaning products and Dettol Lysol made a statement, which warned not to use the substance internally after President Donald trump suggested that people can receive the injection of disinfectant to get rid of COVID-19.
«As a world leader in products for health and hygiene, we must clearly understand that under no circumstances our disinfectants should not be introduced into the human body (by injection, ingestion or any other way)», — said the representative of the British company Reckitt Benckiser (RBGLY).
According to the statement, the products must be used only for the purposes and in accordance with the terms of use.
«We are responsible for providing consumers with access to accurate, current information in accordance with the recommendations of leading experts in public health,» added the company.
Agency for the protection of the environment also reminds people about the use of disinfectant only on surfaces.
The statement followed the remarks of the President of trump on Thursday, April 23, on the use of disinfectants.
«And then I see the disinfectant as it kills him (coronavirus — ed. ed.) for one minute. Is there a way we can do something similar by injecting inside or almost clean… it would be interesting to test this, the President said. — It sounds interesting to me.»
At the briefing, trump also suggested that people can heal from the virus «ultraviolet or just a very powerful light.»
