Donald Trump has not paid income tax for 10 years, — New York Times investigation finds

Donald Trump has not paid federal income tax for at least 10 years, starting in 2000. The president has provided false information to the IRS and claimed that his financial losses significantly exceeded his income, according to an exclusive New York Times investigation published on Sunday, September 27.

Trump paid just $ 750 in federal income tax in his first year at the White House, as he did for the year in the presidential race, according to the Times, despite multi-million dollar profits. The report, detailing payments based on tax information over nearly two decades, details years of tax evasion, hidden losses by the incumbent, and a number of conflicts of interest.

In particular, in the first two years in office, Trump received $ 73 million by doing business abroad. Most of the profits came from golf centers, but some of the profits came from deals with countries with «authoritarian regimes» and «complex geopolitics», including the Philippines, India and Turkey.

At a White House briefing, Trump accused the New York Times of lying and said he pays «a lot» of federal income taxes. He added that he is ready to make the declarations public, but only when the check by the Internal Revenue Service, which allegedly «treats him badly,» is over.

Trump declined to answer journalists' questions about how much he paid in federal taxes in recent years.
