AOC and Ilhan Omar Play Among Us On Twitch To Get Viewers To Vote

More than 430,000 people simultaneously logged onto Twitch on Tuesday to watch Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, NY, play a popular video game to encourage Americans to vote.

The stream reportedly attracted the third largest audience in Twitch history. Ocasio-Cortez has been joined by a number of popular gamers, as well as her fellow Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.

Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez, known to supporters as the AOC, began the broadcast by urging people to vote for the Democratic Party.

“Of course we're here to vote for the Blues. [That's why] I'm here, ”she said.

The Ocasio-Cortez broadcast lasted about three and a half hours. The congresswoman has over 550,000 followers, more than any of her political colleagues on the platform.

The response to the initiative was overwhelmingly positive, with viewers saying it was a “natural” way to interact with young Americans.

“AOC's impressive strength lies not only in being a strong pro-democracy, but also because it can speak convincingly directly to millennials using platforms such as Twitch,” said Mitchell Robertson of the American Rothermere Institute.

But some have criticized the congresswoman for campaigning.
Among Us is a new multiplayer game that is rapidly gaining popularity thanks to streamers and YouTube stars and partly similar to the equally famous «Mafia». The essence of both games is to find a liar among friends.

A traitor must skillfully lie, sabotage and substitute less successful colleagues. Everything is like in big politics. AOC also pointed to an obvious similarity — right after another player blatantly lied in her face and then stabbed her in the back to win the game.
