A court in Iran sentenced a Chinese American to 10 years in prison for espionage. About it reports USA Today.
37-year-old , Xiu Wang studied history at Princeton University and went to Iran as a researcher. Wang was born in Beijing and has dual citizenship. About a year ago a man was arrested and charged with the transmission of information to the U.S. Department of state, Princeton center for the study of Iran and the Persian Gulf region and the government Harvard»s Kennedy School.
«This is a man who was collecting secret information and worked in the United States. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but the sentence can be appealed,» he said on state television, the official representative of Iran’s judiciary Mohseni Ejehei Ehei.
At Princeton University have confirmed information about the verdict against Wang. There I explain that the scientist was engaged in studying the administrative and cultural history of the Qajar dynasty in connection with the writing of thesis.
