Google buys modular homes for staff

Parent company GoogleGoogle spent 30 million dollars to buy 300 modular homes from the Factory OS. The contract will be»new» for both sides. Google has never purchased such houses and Factory OS did not produce them in such numbers.

Google wants to make modular homes served as temporary housing for company employees. This will be a small but significant indication of the solution to the housing crisis. A similar strategy has long implemented a competing Facebook.

«Modular construction technology, in fact, are partially built in the factory buildings, which are collected into one already in place. These houses can help to reduce construction costs in the Bay area by 20-50%,» writes the Wall Street Journal.

In construction companies hope that the deal will turn the industry «upside down», because until now, modular homes were sold in the US is extremely rare. People used to prefer conservative capital construction. This idea fervently supported by the developers, because to put on the market of competitors offering housing at half the price so losing a multimillion-dollar profit.
