Cargo containers can become blocks for affordable housing in the Bronx.
New York real estate company Gold Key Group has started the cooperation with SG Blocks, offering to build affordable housing in the North-Eastern part of the area of the containers.
According to the founder of the Gold Key Group of nirona Chin-sang, to begin the planned construction of 65-75 apartments. «It is important to provide the city with affordable housing,» said Chin-sang, whose childhood was held in the Bronx.
In turn, the General Director of SG Blocks Paul Galvin stated that the use of cargo containers speeds up the construction by 40% and makes it 10-20% cheaper compared to traditional technologies.
SG Blocks has already built several container buildings, in particular for Puma, Equinox and Starbucks. Paul Galvin hopes that this will be for Big Apple way out of housing crisis.
