In Jersey city began accepting applications for affordable housing. First, they are served online.

Housing authority of Jersey city (Jersey City Housing Authority — JCHA) has opened applications for affordable housing. Applications will be accepted from 6 to 12 August. For the first time in the history of the city this will occur online.

«JCHA looking forward to <…> opening the waiting list — first fully online,» said acting Executive Director of the JCHA Vivian Brady-Phillips. Also on behalf of the Department, she expressed her gratitude to public organizations that have agreed to help the residents of Jersey city in completing the online forms, which have trained staff and provided computers. The application can be issued on the website JCHA. Applicants with low income may qualify for public housing in the following JCHA:

  • family housing complex. Booker T. Washington, Carrie woods, Holland Gardens, Hudson Gardens and Marion Gardens;
  • seniors (over 62 years old) to Take Gardens and residential complex. T. J. Stuart;
  • elderly/disabled — Carrie woods.

To participate in the state housing lottery allowed a family whose total annual income does not exceed the limit of Federal value — from $52,750 for one person to $99,400 for a family of eight people. Applicants living and/or working in Jersey city, will have an advantage when considering applications.

After registration you will immediately receive a confirmation number and notification of its status will be sent via e-mail or in about 10 weeks will come by regular mail.

At the closing of the waiting list, the system randomly will select a certain number of applicants. Those who in this time are not lucky, can apply next time.
