The famous inscription «Watchtower» disappeared from the building in new York forever?

The construction Department of new York raised the documentation of the last century in search of legal grounds that would enable the known promotional labels of «Watchtower» to remain in the building at the address: 30 Columbia Heights.

This question arises in every sale of the building. The last time the building was purchased in 2016 Columbia Heights Associates for $340 million. The new owner decided to transform a former prayer house of Jehovah’s witnesses in the office-shopping center and filed a request to replace the «Watchtower» the other inscription. The city permit was not produced, and in December 2017, inscription and even the building was removed, as installed without prior approval.

Lawyers Columbia Heights Associates found a document which stated that in 1961, the pharmaceutical company E. R. Squibb & Sons received permission to install advertising signs (before «Watchtower»). However, officials claim that the return of the dismantled sign or to install in its place another is still not allowed, since such advertising violates the approved building structure.

«Watchtower» in height and 4.5 meters crowned the building at 30 Columbia Heights for more than 40 years. While Columbia Heights Associates trying to prove that the letter signs on the structure does not affect the setting for the legendary labels will be empty.
