The President of Brooklyn would provide $3 million for the construction and preservation of affordable housing

President borough of Brooklyn Eric L. Adams will allocate more than $3 million from the capital budget for fiscal year 2019 for the development and maintenance of more than 550 new and existing buildings in Brooklyn.

Funding will be directed to the creation and maintenance of housing for seniors, low-income people, ex-homeless and their families.

The budget provides funding for five projects. Adams allocates $1 million to Fund «Love Fellowship Tabernacle» for the construction of a multifunctional complex of 189 apartments at 2435 Pacific Street in Brownsville. Catholic charities Corporation «Progress of Peoples Development» will receive $526 thousand for the construction of the second phase of the project «the virgin of Loreto», which will provide another 102 Brownsville cheap apartments.

Hanson Place Church Support Corporation will receive $500 thousand for the construction of 100 units of affordable housing in Fort Greene. BEL Community Housing will also receive $500 thousand for the creation of 89 apartments for seniors in East Flatbush. An additional $500 thousand will go to Abraham Residence for the creation of living places for 75 a former homeless older people.

«Every Brooklyn deserves a safe place… regardless of income or background,’ said Adams. — People should not be forced to leave their homes because they can no longer afford to live in neighborhoods where they spent decades.»
