A two-story house drove through the streets of San Francisco. Moved to a new address

After 139 years, a two-story Victorian house at 807 Franklin Street in San Francisco has a new address.

On Sunday, a green house with large windows and a brown front door was loaded onto a giant cart and moved to a location six blocks away from the original address. Onlookers lined the sidewalks to take pictures while the building was being driven at a speed of 1 km/h to 635 Fulton Street.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the move was planned for years. Now the site on Franklin Street should become a 48-apartment eight-story residential building.

Phil Joy, who handled the move, told the newspaper that he needed to get permits from more than 15 city services. He added that one of the main challenges on the way was the descent down the slope, which is » always difficult.» In addition, parking meters were removed along the route, tree branches were cut off and road signs were moved.

Now the owner of the six-bedroom house, Tim Brown, a broker from San Francisco, must pay about $400 thousand in fees and transportation costs.
