A two-story house drove through the streets of San Francisco. Moved to a new address

After 139 years a two-story Victorian house at 807 Franklin Street in San Francisco has a new address.

On Sunday, the green house with large windows and a brown front door was loaded onto a giant cart and moved to a location six blocks away from original address. Spectators lined the sidewalks to take pictures as the building was driven at 1 km/h to 635 Fulton Street.

The move has been planned for years, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. This historic 139-year-old house was moved across San Francisco — and people were enthralled 🏠 pic.twitter.com/dWcpmdX2gP

Phil Joy, who handled the move, told the paper he required to obtain permits from more than 15 city services. He added that one of the main challenges on the way was going down the slope, which is “always difficult.” In addition, parking meters were removed along the route, tree limbs were cut, and road signs were moved.

Now the owner of the six-bedroom home, Tim Brown, a broker from San Francisco, must pay about $400,000 in fees and transportation costs .
