On Times Square you can see the Big Apple in miniature

The latest project of the artist Arena Gazita does not want to be called little, despite the fact that it consists of miniatures. A former Israeli soldier and his team put the soul in the installation called «the Gates of Gulliver» (Gulliver’s Gate), which can be seen in a huge exhibition hall with an area of 49 000 square feet, located at 216 West 44th Street in Times Square. The project is the embodiment of decades of dreaming and hard work Gazita, in this case, the chief dreamer, as well as years attracting investors, coordinating the work of dozens of artists worldwide, and months of installation.

How it all began

The artist fell in love with the art of miniatures in his 30 years, after he visited Madurodam (the Netherlands) in the Park, well-known models in the scale of 25 to 1, representing the main Dutch attractions. The next few years, Gazit spent, creating a mini-copy of his homeland. In 2002, marking the end of the artist’s work, opened a Park of miniature cities and landmarks of Israel.

After moving to Lenox, Massachusetts, Gazit refused to create a Park of miniatures on biblical themes in Nashville and mini of America in Las Vegas. But the temptation to recreate the Big Apple he could not resist. In order to realize «the Gates of Gulliver» in life, Gatito needed financial assistance to investors, who became Irving and Michael Langery of E & M Associates. Master miniature copies got a team with a diverse set of skills, and the work began.

Concentrated beauty

The place for installation was chosen solely for reasons of practicality. Times Square is visited annually by tens of millions of people. Not every tourist will go to Brooklyn, but all visitors must visit Times Square.

The exhibition includes miniature models of famous of our world and locations from the fictional worlds, United railroads, highways and all modes of transport known to mankind, from horses and balloons to jet planes and space shuttles. There is a functioning airport with flights taking off and landing on schedule. Visitors can even pass scanning, and then their tiny copy will be added to other miniatures.

A copy of the Big Apple includes Times Square, Empire State Building and the Guggenheim Museum. Many models, for example, street vendors, shoppers and taxis and trains are interactive and move almost like real.

Gazit says that his creation is a magical, happy version of the world. There are no slums, no wars and disasters. Everything is quiet.

If you want to see this miracle, the exhibition «the Gates of Gulliver» is open daily from 09:00. Tickets can be purchased by clicking on the link.
