When hurricane Harvey struck a medical center in Corpus Christi, Texas, a young mother Irma Rodriguez was still looking for a name for their newborn son. The nurse suggested to name the baby «Harvey» and agreed that it is «ideal,» writes the New York Post.
Harvey is unlikely that Rodriguez will be the only one who was named after a destructive storm raging in Texas. According to the Department of social security, after hurricanes Katrina and sandy was the surge of popularity of these names for newborns.
«Harvey will be in trend,» — said Jonah Berger, Professor of marketing at the Wharton School, Pennsylvania.
History only confirms his opinion.
So, the name Katrina was very popular in 1982, but then so kids were never called. After the eponymous hurricane in 2005, more than 1327 girls in America called «Katrina». Then the popularity had sharply dropped to 138 people in 2017.
