Billionaire Richard Branson owns Necker island in the virgin Islands, which was in the midst of tropical storm Irma. Branson decided to sit him in a wine cellar in the comfort of their Islands.
In his blog, the Virgin Group founder wrote that he decided to abandon the evacuation and stay, because «over the past 30 years hurricanes here happened three times.»
In anticipation of the hurricane of the fifth category Branson urged residents of the virgin Islands, if possible, to go to shelters or to have thought out a plan if they decided to wait out the cataclysm at home. The night before hurricane Richard tweeted that he and his team spent the night together.
«I didn’t have sleepovers since I was a child,» he wrote on Twitter.

In his blog, the businessman said that later they will go to the wine cellar to safely hide the arrival of a hurricane.
«The storm will gain strength in five hours, then we’ll go in a concrete cellar under the Big house,» said Branson. «Knowing our wonderful guys, I guess the cellar will be much less wine when we’re going out.»
Branson wrote in another message that, while built on his private island has been designed to withstand severe weather, «nothing can withstand hurricane category 5».
On Thursday, Richard Branson’s son, Sam, published a post in Instagram, confirming that all the inhabitants of Necker island survived the storm.
«I am pleased to announce that all Neckera in order, although many buildings are destroyed,» wrote Sam in Instagram. «I am very worried for our friends, for the people on the neighboring Islands, and all who may face a hurricane.»
Sam Branson has urged people who are on the path of the storm to take seriously the situation.
«If your house is not very strong, seek shelter! The house can be repaired or rebuilt, but life is impossible», — he said. «Nature warns us again about climate change. And we all need to make efforts to combat it.»
