In a statement on Friday, the MTA Shams Tarek commented on the decision, saying that «the MTA is actively promoting the development and introduction of new contactless payment system, working with experienced professionals in this field. We want to collect best practices from around the world and the latest modern technology and give our customers a first-class system.»
