On Tuesday morning, around 07:00 one of the employees of the nonprofit organization Central Park Conservancy, which maintains order in the most famous Park of Manhattan, I noticed that someone mocked 125-year-old statue of Christopher Columbus.

Hand of the Italian sailor was painted in blood red color, and the pedestal on which it stands, became a canvas for a message like this: “Hate is unacceptable”.

Moreover, instead of signing a vandal left a hashtag, which can be perceived as a threat – #somethingscoming («something must happen»).

Park workers spent the whole morning to scrub the paint with a two-meter monument with the help of acetone. It took a lot of effort to get rid of the red track with the hands of the Navigator.

This is already the third new York statue of Christopher Columbus, which over the past two weeks suffered from hands of vandals. Recall, 30 August in the Park of the city of Yonkers, new York, the Columbus monument was beheaded, and the next day a statue of the seafarer in Queens daubed with blue paint.

Despite the fact that for many, Columbus is a herowho discovered the New world, some perceive it as a brutal colonizer, marked the beginning of the enslavement, torture and mass murder of the indigenous population of the lands they discovered.

Police have launched an investigation, but at this time, the culprit was never found.

Decades ago Justice Scalia was not allowed to speak at Brooklyn College when dedicating a library to his father, a professor of modern languages there. Columbus like Stonewall Jackson wanted to Christianize the native population not harm them. If there was genocide, how about Hernado Cortez who plundered the Aztec EMpire,
