For 45 years, Joe Badam Medford, state of new Jersey, was preparing for the end of the world. Architect Badam and his late wife had built in his basement bunker, able to accommodate up to 100 people. It’s lead-lined bomb shelter filled with barrels of food, non-perishable for a long time.
Unfortunately, not long ago, Joe lost his house for non-payment of loans. But his failure he decided to turn it into something good.
Instead of destroying dozens of barrels of products, Badam donated them to Victoria Martinez-Barber and her husband Anthony, natives of Puerto Ricowho are now going to help island.
«People are dying out there,» said Joe ABC7. «They have nothing».
Victoria Martinez, whose grandmother stayed in Puerto Rico devastated by hurricane Maria, said that the products Joe will save many lives. «My grandmother lost everything.»
Each barrel weighs about 300 pounds and Packed with rice, beans, flour, powdered milk and so on. In the bunker Joe enough food to feed dozens of people for four months (!).
The first shipment of several barrels is planned on Monday, which would later be the second – has 62 pieces.
Joe Badam was always sure that it’s necessary for survival. Just until now, he didn’t know who saves.
