Christina Kitcat, 29-year-old resident of California, miraculously survived after the bullet pierced her heart and lung. Friends say: this is due to the love and quick response to her boyfriend-a firefighter.
Christina and her boyfriend, Kelly Culbertson, thought I heard fireworks at a music festival , Route 91 Harvest in Las Vegas.
«I thought, hmm, someone brought rockets and firecrackers? And why run away?», — Kelly tells The Daily Beast. «Then begins a series of fireworks, Christina looks at me and says: it’s hard for me to breathe.»
Culbertson, who works as a firefighter in California city Randsburg, recalls how he fell to the ground, covering Christina. «We have a saying: we are preparing for the worst but hope for the best. I would never experience such. Or even not to see this.»
Kelly says to get Christina helped him fire another couple, Bruce and Tricia Pollett, whom they met during festivals. Guy adds that the blood just flowed from his chest, Christina, while he was trying to understand if she’s breathing.
Bruce Pollett, who was also wounded, but in the foot, helped to pull her from the attack zone on the beer cart. And then they were lucky enough to meet one of the heroes of that terrible evening – a former marine Taylor Winstonwho stole the van to take the injured to hospitals.
Christina was losing consciousness. «I said, babe, you with me? She smiled and said, I fall asleep,» says Kelly.
But the girl survived, although doctors claim it is a miracle. The bullet pierced her arm, heart and lung, she underwent a serious operation, but is on the mend.
«I really feel that this is a love story,» said a friend of the victim, Casey Winchell. «He saved her. And their love saved her».
The couple arrived at the country festival to celebrate the birthday of Christine. Undoubtedly, the evening truly became her second birth.
