Now the boy scouts are not exclusively male organization. In the announcement published on their website on Wednesday, said that the organization’s Board of Directors unanimously decided to start taking in the younger cub scouts girls.
The head of the Council, Michael Sorbo stated that this step does not contradict the mission of the scout organization and embodies the idealsdescribed in the scout oath and their set of rules.
«We believe that it is very important to allow our programs to evolve so they can meet the needs of people who are interested in ensuring that their children receive valuable life experience. We strive to carry the weight of what our organization does best, develop character and leadership skills of youth to shape the next generation of these leaders.»
Beginning next year, girls will also be able to join the program for older scouts that will allow them to earn the highest rank of the organization, Eagle Scout. Existing groups will have the opportunity to create a separate unit for girls, the mixed unit, or consist solely of boys.
The organization of the boy scouts over the years have received letters with requests to start to accept girls. Despite the fact that there are many individual organizations to the girl scouts, the boy scouts of America are considered the most significant Association in the country, including almost 2,3 million members aged from 7 years to 21 years.
