Donald trump: we can’t help Puerto Rico forever

On Thursday, President Donald trump in his Twitter expressed the opinion that Puerto Rico should assume more responsibility in rebuilding the island after hurricane Maria. As written trump, Federal government service emergencies can’t stay there forever.

…We cannot keep FEMA, the Military and the First Responders, who have been amazing (under the most difficult circumstances) in P. R. forever!

«…We can’t hold Federal office of emergency situations, military and rescue services, who performed a terrific job (in the most difficult circumstances), in Puerto Rico forever!».

In his message, he blamed Puerto Rico’s «complete lack of accountability,» adding that «electricity and all the infrastructure was in disastrous condition before the hurricanes».

Trump also cited the statement presenter of the Sinclair Broadcasting Group Cheryl Atkinson, which, according to him, laid the blame for the sorry state of Puerto Rico on the island itself.

Recall that the island that inhabits the 3.4 million citizens of the USA, three weeks after the hurricane, is still in distress and remains without electricity.

Now Congress is going to provide financial assistance to regions affected by natural disasters, among them Puerto Rico. It is expected that legislators may allocate about 36.5 billion dollars, reports BBC.

Donald trump in a series of his reports noted that Congress must decide how much money to allocate to help.

The mayor of San Juan, capital of Puerto Rico, responded to the President’s comments, saying that the message trump to emphasize his «despair» and «inadequacy» of his reaction to the aftermath of a hurricane.

«It’s not that You do not understand, — said Carmen Yulin Cruz, — the fact that You are incapable of empathy and, frankly, just can’t do their job».

Press Secretary of the White house Sarah Sanders told reporters that Mr. trump has partnered with the Governor and the Congress of Puerto Rico in order to «determine the best financial path».
