Monday, October 16, held a brief military hearing against freed prisoner of the Taliban and the US army Sergeant Bowie bergdahl in the Fort Bragg, North Carolina. During the trial, the accused pleaded guilty to desertion and criminal behavior against the enemy.

To the recognition of Bergdahl expressed doubt that the trial is over it will be fair in connection with the election statements of Donald trump. He remembered the words at that time presidential candidate, who called the Sergeant a «traitor» and said that he would be executed in the «old days».

The story of the abduction of the Bowie Bergdahl

In 2009, Bergdahl was serving in the 501st parachute shelf, which was in Afghanistan. In June of the same year for unknown reasons he left his post and was captured by the Taliban. During five years in captivity Bergdahl tried several times to escape, but to no avail. Negotiations for his release was long and controversial among US officials.

In 2014, in Guantanamo Bay the Bergdahl exchanged for five very valuable prisoners of the Taliban. This decision of the Pentagon was heavily criticized by Republicans, and especially trump, who was going to go to the forthcoming elections for the presidency. He rudely spoke out against the prisoner, calling it «garbage» and even advised him to execute.

Why is there suspicion?

Correspondent Fox News Megyn Kelly and James Rosen a year of his release, Bergdahl announced «secret documents» that allegedly prove that the military «showed affection» to their captors, converted to Islam and became a Mujahid. The soldier denies this, telling of the terrible torture which he had experienced.

«It was so bad that I literally looked at myself, you know, looked at the joints, looked at my ribs and just thought: «I will die here from disease, or I die during the escape, he remembered about his time as a hostage. – It was not even matter».

Military lawyer Terrence Russell, which protects the former prisoners, asserts that Bergdahl was subjected to such tests, which are reminiscent of the cruelty of torture in Vietnam a few decades ago. The defender was told of one case after a failed escape: «They took a plastic tube… And they began to kick him and that pipe… the Idea was to damage his legs and feet, and he couldn’t escape.»

During today’s hearing Bergdahl admitted that left the base without permission, which can be regarded as desertion. This month there’ll be another hearing in his case where needs to consider the serious wounds of soldiers who were engaged in the search for Sergeant hostage. Protection Bergdahl claims that he cannot be held responsible for a long chain of events that includes other people’s decisions about how to conduct searches.
