New art installations fill the life of new York paints (photos)

New York has always been famous for the variety and liveliness of cultural life. It was at this world centre brings together creative peoplewishing to Express themselves. In the framework of the program of support of art city’s Department of transportation (DOT Art) new sculptures, interactive projects and wall murals appeared this spring in four of the five boroughs of new York: Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan and the Bronx.

The colored degree of Rhythmic Color, Kingsbridge, Bronx

Color degree on Naples Terrace was created by volunteers from Publicolor, a program of youth development that helps students from disadvantaged families prepare for College and finding a career path. The stairs were painted in four colors in two contrasting directions «to display the rhythm and movement».

Unusual sculpture by Fanny Allie, located in Putnam Plaza at the intersection of Fulton Street and Grand Avenue, will appeal to many art lovers. It consists of several cubes put one by one, and each element of the sculpture can be moved, creating new portraits. Black-and-white image on each cube is the people who live in the neighborhood for over 25 years. Every three months the portraits in the sculpture, installed in cooperation with the A. I. R gallery and the Fulton Area Business Alliance will be changed once every three months to the district will be able to know their heroes in person.

Installation Common Demoninator, Inwood, Manhattan

People who are not indifferent to the fate of the environment will definitely benefit from installing Common Demoninator in Inwood in Manhattan. The Dyckman Farmhouse Museum and artist Anthony Heinz May, recently installed a cherry tree with a height of 9 feet at the intersection of Dyckman Street and Riverside Drive. The sculpture is made from recycled materials and is designed to emphasize the importance of nature in the urban environment.

Program participants DOT-Art has teamed up with the NGO New York Cares to bring to life a project dedicated to Earth Day. About 70 volunteers helped the Ecuadorian Illustrator Carla Torres create a mural of The Five Elements, transforming the walkway between Jackson Avenue and Skillman Avenue. Mural with a length of 1 thousand feet is an abstract image of the five elements: earth, fire, water, air and spirit.

Installation We Are All Tourists, Long Island City, Queens

The work of the artist Christian Pietrapiana successfully cope with the creation of the atmosphere of an art gallery under the open sky. The project with the speaking name We Are All Tourists at its core is a visual collection of stories of tourists or travelers that have visited new York city in the last 600 years. Six panels with these stories installed along the Vernon Boulevard at Queens Plaza.
