The MTA will launch a new mobile application for passengers of all modes of transport

The MTA plans to introduce new unified mobile appthat will allow passengers to receive relevant information in real time about routes and delays in the subway, on buses and commuter trains.

In the words of MTA Chairman Joseph Lhota, while the app is in an early stage of development, but it will be in early 2018. Lhota added that their goal is to integrate all existing mobile applications from the company.
«Undoubtedly, we need to completely change the form of our feedback from customers. To do it more often and more accurately,» said Lhota in an interview with amNewYork. «Thus, if we have any failures in motion, the passengers will get information how to find a different route».

Plan to change the format of communication with passengers also includes the replacement of automatic announcements in the metro for more concrete and «real».

For residents of new York, which already suffered from serious failures in metro’s schedule, this is true.

Geraldo Petrie in August of this year, spent more than an hour in a stuck train D before on speaker passengers reported what was going on.

«They had to use a rescue train to pull us,» said Petri. «And we haven’t heard any ads for almost half an hour while I was waiting. There were people who had to go home to take insulin or to see his worried loved ones.»
