The General Prosecutor of the state of new Jersey warns parents about the dangers of the proliferation of candy with marijuana and other edible forms of the drug during the celebration of Halloween. This warning has become a tradition, and the state police says that there is every reason, while many people in new Jersey very lightly.
«The presence of edible forms of marijuana is a significant risk to residents, especially for children who might inadvertently get marijuana candy during Halloween,» reads the warning. The danger exists not only in new Jersey but in neighboring States, authorities said.
The warning mentions the case of a 10-year-old boy from new York city, which, according to the police, got sick after ate the candy found in the back seat of the car with his family, but it had no relationship to Halloween.
«Our task is to try to prevent accidents when possible, and given the striking similarities between these drugs and the usual edible candy, the warning was necessary and appropriate. We want that our children were safe and happy Halloween,» — said the representative of the state attorney General Sharon Lauger.
Containing cannabis sweets can be made in the form of jelly candies fruit caramels or chocolate bars. Authorities recommend to throw away any candy without the wrapper and not of known origin.
