Stephen Hawking: robots will replace humans

Renowned British physicist, Professor Stephen Hawking, who studied the theory of the origin of the world in the Big Bang and the theory of black holes, talked about their thoughts about the fact that one day robots will replace the human race.

Professor Hawking believes that artificial intelligence (AI), evolving every day due to the ability to self-learn, in the end, reaches a level where it will turn into a full-fledged form of life, which will stand on a stage higher than man.

In an interview with WIRED magazine, the scientist said that if people are able to create a computer virus, sooner or later, someone will create an AI that will not only learn, but also to reproduce itself. This system will become a new form of life that will surpass us.

Professor Hawking also believes that to continue the development of the human race must begin to actively explore the cosmos, create new space program, which could attract young people to science. One of the main tasks of the 75-year-old physicist sees the colonization suitable for the life of the planets.

«I believe that we have reached the point of no return. Our Land became too small to accommodate all of us, the world’s population grows at terrifying pace, and humanity faces self-destruction.»

Last year in another interview, Professor Hawking said that AI could either destroy humanity or change it beyond recognition. In addition, the physicist sees no difference between the abilities of a biological brain and a machine. Thus, AI can copy human thinking and even surpass it.

Informed about the the threat from AI has repeatedly expressed the founder of SpaceX and Tesla Elon Musk, who even urged the authorities to introduce restrictive measures on the development in this field.
