Exactly 100 years ago was one of the largest political events of the twentieth century — the October revolution. Old style on the court was the 10th, not the 11th month of the year, hence the name.
During the «Bolshevik revolution» was overthrown the previous government and the government took over the government formed by the II all-Russian Congress of Soviets. Thus was born the Union of Soviet Socialist republics.
Despite the fact that this event influenced the further course of world history, today the people of Russia do not give it much importance.
According to a study by the Pew Reseach Centre, they tend to assume that a much greater impact on the fate of their homeland had the Second world war.
34% of respondents believe that military clashes of 1941-1945 are the most important, followed the collapse of the Soviet Union it is considered the most significant event, 20% of respondents 10% focus financial crisis of 2008, and only 8 per cent of the great October revolution.
However, some groups still celebrate the anniversary of the coup on 7 November. In particular, this year a series of rallies in major cities held a political party the Other Russia.

Analysts from the Pew Reseach Centre found that the differences in opinion of the subjects depends on their level of confidence in the incumbent President. His supporters tend to believe the most important event of the last century, the Second world war, and the opponents — the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The researchers suggest that this trend reflects the efforts of Vladimir Putin to promote war as a defining moment for the Russian nation.
