A Florida man is fighting for the right to keep a squirrel at home to help him with PTSD

A resident of Florida, who saved a squirrel, now fighting for the right to keep her in his apartment.

In October 2016, during a deadly hurricane Matthew, a resident of Clearwater Beach Ryan Boylan rescued a baby squirrel, which he named Brutis. A man suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after a terrible car accident, said instantly became attached to the animal.

«Since… honestly, I just can’t imagine that she’s not around,» he told Boylan channel WFLA.
Managers condo in Island Walk learned about the rodent in April this year, when the squirrel was chased up a tree by a local dog. Last month Ryan received a notification, or to remove unauthorized animal or move out.

But the situation is complicated by the fact that the doctor Boylan in July gave him the recipe, which advised to have a «emotional support animal» because of PTSD.

Now the man contacted the Department of human rights, Pinellas County, saying that he is discriminated against in accordance with the Law on fair housing, which protects animals that provide emotional support.
