Yesterday at the New Lab was presented a prototype of the train BQX. This development brought the new Yorkers to a long-awaited land transport lines between Brooklyn and Queens (BQX). The route will lay along the coastal parts of these two districts, with the endpoints of Astoria and Sunset Park. The project is estimated at $ 2.5 billion. USA.
The prototype, made by the French company Alstom, is a train consisting of two carriages, one of which – the driver’s cab. Length of the structure is 46 feet. The vehicle is more powerful than their predecessors, besides the wagons are located low enough that will allow people with disabilities to easily enter the car. I-ting Liu, Executive Director of Friends of the BQX, said: «Today we show the new Yorkers what will be like BQX, and we encourage the city to promote rail service in areas that have long had a reliable public transport».
BQX, introduced by mayor bill de Blasio in February 2016, is still at an early stage of design. Supporters BQX sure that the ground line will help to relieve public transport and will also cover coastal areas, where the population continues to grow.
