An outstanding Russian Opera singer Dmitri Hvorostovsky died in London at the age of 55 years.

This was confirmed by relatives of the artist on his official page in Facebook.

«On behalf of the family Hvorostovskij we with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dmitri Hvorostovsky — loved operatic baritone, husband, father, son, and friend. After two and a half year battle with brain cancer, he died a peaceful morning, November 22, surrounded by family. Let the warmth of his voice and his spirit will always be with us», — stated in the message.

Dmitri Hvorostovsky was born in Krasnoyarsk, graduated from the Krasnoyarsk pedagogical College named after A. M. Gorky and the Krasnoyarsk Institute of arts.

The world fame he got after the victory in 1989 at the International competition of Opera singers in Cardiff.

Since then, Hvorostovsky has performed at the best theatres of the world: Royal Opera house, Covent garden (London), Bavarian state Opera (Munich State Opera), Berlin state Opera, La Scala (Milan), Vienna state Opera, the Metropolitan Opera (new York), and many others. Since 1994, the singer lived in London.

24 June 2015 on the official website of Hvorostovsky came the announcement of the cancellation of shows before the end of summer from-for found out the singer of brain tumors.

In 2016 he played even after a course of chemotherapy and last concert, on June 2 of this year, gave in his native Krasnoyarsk.
