Airbnb to provide free housing for refugees.

Leading accommodation booking private individuals Airbnb has launched a new platform is Welcome.

Every who wants to help refugees, can provide the housing for them at least one night (or more). Airbnb will not charge you for these orders.

«When we think about global problems, we feel powerless to change something. But there are things that everyone can do. For example, just to open the doors of their homes for a few nights to people who have lost everything,» said Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia.

Earlier, Airbnb has set a goal for five years to provide short-term housing for 100 thousand people worldwide. The new platform will help with this, as Airbnb is now beginning to work with eight organizations to provide assistance to refugees, including the international rescue Committee, Signa Signa France and Quebec.

According to Airbnb, to date, 6 thousand home owners are ready to shelter refugees.

According to estimates of the United Nations, the world has 65 million displaced persons.

The current most pressing priority is refugees, but the platform is designed to scale and adapt to additional crises as we proceed.
