Company Facebook announced Wednesday that it creates a new section that allows users of the social network to see which pages of those that they viewed or subscribers which they are were created by the Russians.
The test tool will be available in the Facebook Help center at the end of this year. The goal of the project is anti – propaganda. With this new tool users will be able to see whether you create any content they individuals or entities having a direct relationship to the Kremlin. The resulting information will be useful to everyone, considering the fact that a certain group, called the Internet research Agency, used social media to influence Americans during the presidential election in 2016.
According to experts , up to 150 million users of Facebook and Instagram, may have been covered by the Russian propaganda, viewing of the content is aimed at deepening racial and social differences between Americans during the elections.
With the new section of the site, Americans will be able to check any page visited during the period from January 2015 to August 2017.
«It is important that people understand how the foreign players tried to sow discord and distrust, using Facebook before and after the US elections in 2016,» — said in a statement. «That’s why, when we find relevant information, that is constantly in favor of its public publication and provide it to investigators of the Congress.»
