Many residents of the Upper Keys in Florida saw the unusual house, which was located on the Venetian Shores.
The locals call him «house-UFO» because of the unusual shape, but now a unique building remained only in photographs last month, the house for years stood abandoned and left for demolition.
How did he appeared here?
The history of the house-UFO begins with a Polish immigrant Henry Casimir Rusakovsky. Furious fan of aviation, Henry Rusakovsky came to the United States in the early twentieth century. In the forties he spent almost all his savings to acquire the amphibious aircraft RC-3 Seabee and go to South America in search of adventure and gold.
Rusakovsky found gold (Yes, so much so that he was more than enough to cover all debts) and with the wealth met in Peru and their love, 19-year-old Patricia, which took with him to America, settling in Florida.
Henry and Patricia had three children – a boy and a girl, whom they named after each other, and another son, Edmund.
It says the Miami-Herald Rusakovsky eldest son, 56-year-old Henry, all his childhood was connected with airplanes, and his father chose to build a house Upper Keys to quite a number were able to put on the water its amphibious aircraft.
It is logical that family, so devoted to aviation, could not build a house, which, in the opinion of many, was like a spaceship. The house was designed in the 1970s by an architect from Miami Peter Vander Klucom. The building is designed to withstand winds up to 300 miles per hour.
«During the hurricanes, the father never even thought about how to evacuate, and there were no problems,» recalls Henry Rusakovsky.
Round concrete house really resembled something like a UFO. And in the middle was a pool about 10 feet deep, in which you could dive from the second floor.
«It was a house of the future,» says Joe Ziomek involved in the history of Islamorada. At the same time, the strange shape of the house made it not only unusual, but impractical.
«To get from the kitchen to the bedroom, you had to go through the whole house in a circle,» adds Ziomek.
Henry’s father Rusakovsky died in 1998 and mother — in 2013. Henry moved to North Carolina, brother and sister also live in different parts of the country. Home-UFO fell into disrepair, until it was recognized emergency and subject to demolition, which happened in October of this year.
Henry Rusakovsky said that the Upper Keys have changed too much since his youth, so he would not want to come back. «It was a different time. It was five to seven houses. Now for me it’s too crowded».
