«No drunk Santas!», — so, obviously, I thought the representatives of the MTA and New Jersey Transit, introducing a 24-hour ban on alcohol on trains, which will come into force this Saturday at noon.
Drinking of any alcoholic beverages is prohibited on all trains of Long Island Rail Road and Metro North Railroadto, according to the MTA, «to maintain order and safe operation of stations and terminals.»
New Jersey Transit banned alcohol also. In addition, Grand Central station new York Penn Station will be placed additional orders of the police.
These measures relate to the weekend of the annual festival of Santa Claus – SantaCon.
Lovers of alcoholic beverages should hold out until Sunday noon, then the ban will be lifted. Offenders law enforcement will disembark from the train, a drunken «Santas» faces a fine or even arrest.
As told to Patch the organizers of SantaCon, this year the festival will begin from postmaster James A. Farley in Midtown, located at Eighth Avenue between West 33rd and 34th streets.
Collection of Santa Claus starts about 10 a.m. Saturday, December 9. The exact route will be announced later, for updates you can follow on the official page of SantaCon on Twitter.
