The mayor of new York bill de Blasio declared that will not return Muslim «surveillance program» that was used under former mayor Michael Bloomberg.

This de Blasio said yesterday, November 12, in the Bronx, a day after immigrant from Bangladesh detonated a homemade bomb in an underground tunnel the Port Authority.

«It will only worsen the situation,» — said the mayor. «People in our city need to know that they recognize that they are respected, that they’re part of the community. This is what allows them to not feel isolated, or, God forbid, to be radicalized,» added bill de Blasio.

De Blasio has canceled the program, which many considered controversial, immediately after its inauguration in 2014, reports AMNY.

The program, created by Michael Bloomberg with the support of the CIA, provided for increased surveillance of Muslim neighborhoods in new York. The mosque was declared a «potential terrorist organizations», which allowed the NYPD to expose them to additional inspections, record sermons and collecting dossiers on citizens of Muslim neighborhoods.

The Bloomberg administration defended the program as an important tool to prevent terrorist attacks, but critics argued that it violates human rights.
