The residence of the mayor of new York — Gracie Mansion in the Upper East side now also prepared to meet Christmas. Holiday decor was demonstrated by the mayor’s wife, Shirley Mccray on Thursday. This weekend, the mansion will be visited by thousands of visitors and believe me – there is something to see!

Create festive decor the mayor and his wife instructed the firm Rafanelli Events, who decorated the White house during the last years of the presidency of Barack Obama. The design is very symbolic, showing the political aspirations and priorities of mayor bill de Blasio and his wife, Shirley Mccray.

«The festive season is a time when families and community come together and celebrate peace, love and unity. We wanted the decor to Gracie Mansion caught the holiday wave, and told the story of our most proud achievements on behalf of all new Yorkers,» Mccray said in a statement.

One of the Christmas installations located in the «Peach room» of the mansion is a Christmas tree, lined with 500 children’s books. It is designed to draw attention to initiatives Gracie Book Club and Talk To You Baby. After the holidays, all books will be donated to Children’s Aid Society.

The «Blue room» Gracie Mansion has a Christmas tree made of colored pencils. It is a symbol of programs of Computer Science For All, Pre-K For All AP and For All.

In the foyer of the mansion door and the walls are decorated with unusual garlands. Jewelry is made from dozens of knitted gloves and socks, after the holidays will also be donated to the needy.

In the ballroom of the mansion is a real Christmas tree called ThriveNYC, decorated with garland of paper dolls, holding hands made by children from a care Centre for children in East Harlem and Frederick Douglass Center. This Christmas tree is meant to draw attention to the initiatives of the city to help people suffering from mental illness.

On Saturday in Gracie Mansion will be held the Day of open doors. Visit the mansion, everyone can, but the number of free tickets is limited. Reserve them here.
