Knowledge is power, I’m sure Belinda Barry of Inglewood, Chicago. To convey this message to the granddaughter, the woman just convinced her of the value of higher education, and showed a personal example.
The result was two of the honours degree, which on Thursday gave a 62-year-old Belinda and 25-year-old Carie during a ceremony at the State University of Chicago.
The grandmother got a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and a granddaughter graduated from the faculty of criminal law. «We do everything together,» they admit.
Only 1 of the 26 thousand residents of Englewood have a basic higher education, and close relatives were able to enter this number. Graduates are not resting on our laurels and intend to continue my studies.
Belinda raised a girl from the age of two, and one of its main goals was to instill in her a work ethic and love of knowledge. Today she is proud Karia and recognizes that granddaughter for her inspiration. The fact that together they received their diplomas — a coincidence, not planning ahead.
Belinda and Care Barry — not only the grandmother with the granddaughter who hand in hand went to higher education. To them a similar feat made Awilda Bay and Elzabeth Martin from new Jersey — in September, they together earned the diplomas of Junior specialists in technical College new river at Princeton University.
