On two recent cruises Royal Caribbean more than 500 passengers got sick different stomach disorders. Five people were hospitalized.
As reported by NBC News, after departing 11 Dec from Port Everglades, Florida, from 332 guests from 5 547 people on Board of the ship «Independence of the Seas» started gastrointestinal disorders.
The outbreak occurred less than a month after 209 5 796 passengers on Board the cruise ship «Ovation of the Seas» reported the same symptoms.
Royal Caribbean spokeswoman Cynthia Martinez said that the ship returned to Sydney on 7 December after a 14-day cruise (the ship came on 23 November from Singapore).
«Ill treated the ship’s doctors,» said Cynthia Martinez of The Associated Press. «Health experts have performed particular procedures in addition to the existing Protocol to minimize the risk of recurrence of disease outbreaks». More details of the representative of Royal Caribbean did not provide.
The husband of one of the passengers «Ovation of the Seas» on condition of anonymity, told the Associated Press that his wife «ate on Board the chicken that was not cooked until the end». According to him, the woman had deteriorated so rapidly that he began to fear for her life. Fortunately, nothing happened, and now the victim is recovering in the ICU.
