Wherever you planned to go from new York or in new York during the holidays – you’ll have to deal with the increased security measures.

«Status of new York as an international symbol of freedom and democracy all too often makes us a target for people who oppose our way of life, and we must remain vigilant and do everything possible to preserve the safety of new Yorkers,» said Cuomo in a statement. «The holiday season is one of the busiest terms of the number of travelers, so I reinforce security in the region, to ensure peace of mind of all new Yorkers and visitors to the city.»

The decision on the measures to provide increased security was taken in connection with the recent terrorist attacks in the Big Apple as a precaution, the Governor said.

Additional operational groups of the officers and members of the national guard of the United States will patrol Penn Station, Grand Central Terminal, Port Authority Bus Terminal, the bridges of the city airports of LaGuardia and JFK.

Officials remind residents that all suspicious cases, actions, persons should be reported to the police.
