Soon the students of Junior and middle classes the new York schools can breathe a sigh of relief — they no longer have to spend so much time with the exams. The duration of the standard tests in mathematics and English language will be reduced from three to two days for each subject. This decision was announced on Monday on the Board of Trustees of the Department of education of the state of new York.
Changes that affect students grades 3-8, will come into force next spring.
Reducing the amount spent on the tests hours, the officials will allow children to spend more time studying, and not for checking its results. Besides, supporters of the initiative believe that the new rules will reduce the stress students experience during exams.
The head of the Board of school Directors of the state of new York, expressed gratitude to senior officials in an official statement. «We have long advocated the reduction of the duration of the test, and we believe today’s decision is an important step for the students and teachers that will allow them to better perform their tasks,» said Charles S. derrick.
According to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Betty Rose, four days would be sufficient to assess the academic performance of students.
