Huckabee compared the tramp with Churchill

Mike Huckabee, the former Governor of Arkansas, recently seeing a feature film about Winston Churchill’s «Darkest Hour» (the»Dark ages»), compared the Prime Minister with President Donald trump.

Churchill was hated by his own party, opposition party, and press. Feared by the King as reckless, and despised for his bluntness. But unlike Neville Chamberlain, he didn’t retreat. We had a Chamberlain for 8 yrs; in @realDonaldTrump we have a Churchill.

«Churchill hated in his own party, hated by the opposition and the press. The king he was feared and despised for being rude. But, unlike Neville Chamberlain, he insisted. We had the same Chamberlain for the past eight years. @RealDonaldTrump we have our own Churchill.»

Neville Chamberlain was Prime Minister of great Britain before Winston Churchill. The politician, whose name is still on the Foggy Albion is associated with weakness in the face of the enemy, remembered that in 1938 gave Hitler the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia.

Winston Churchill is considered the best leader of the United Kingdom of the twentieth century. He remained in the memory of our compatriots as the indomitable politician, a great orator and writer. Due to its policy, Britain together with allies defeated Hitler in world war II.

Many commentators reacted with irony to the comparison of British and American politicians. So, the Deputy of the Norwegian Parliament Kristian Tonning Riise wrote the following: «of Course, Churchill served his country for 55 years, 31 of them he held the post of Minister, and nine years was Prime Minister. He participated in 15 battles and won 14 medals for bravery. He was one of the most gifted orators in history, and received the Nobel prize for literature. One and the same.»

Historians are also skeptical about such comparisons. Lecturer at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania David del Tesla finds words Huckabee just ridiculous. He believes that the Prime Minister’s main task was the restoration of world order that was lost due to the populist policies of his predecessor.

Timothy Riley, Director and chief curator of the National Churchill Museum at Westminster College in Missouri, thinks that the main idea Churchill was a fight against tyranny. «To compare them right now very early. Churchill went a long way in half a century. He survived two world wars, and the trump in the oval office sits just a year. About the qualities of the tramp are best judged after more time,» said Riley.
