The court of appeals of Oregon upheld the claim of a lesbian couple against bakery that refused to make them a wedding cake.

The story began in 2013 when the couple Melissa and Aaron Klein, who own the bakery Sweet Cakes in Oregon, refused to bake a wedding cake for Laurel Bowman and Rachel-Crier, on the grounds that they do not approve of same-sex marriage for religious reasons.

Litigation continued for several years, and then in October 2015, the court decided that Klein should pay a lesbian couple moral damages in a total amount of 135,000 dollars.

Disagrees with the decision of a Christian and a father of 5 children Aaron Klein claimed that in this way the religious beliefs of their families are discriminated against.

During the litigation, the pair managed to raise over 500 thousand dollars thanks to the various Christian organizations that support their beliefs. However, in spite of the amount received, Klein refused to pay the fine.

During the protracted court battle Laurel and Rachel Bowman-Cryer repeatedly received death threats. In addition, after the tradition of the case wide publicity, they were concerned about what they can take foster children.

But after another 2 years of litigation the court of appeal changed its decision and ordered the owners of the bakery to pay 135 thousand dollars.
