Nothing associated with the summer more than camping in an outdoor pool (besides the beach, of course, but the beach is out of competition). Them in new York almost as much as the attractions (namely 56), so we have prepared for you a list of the five best public pools in the Big Apple, one in each of the areas of the city.

The pools are open from 11 a.m. until 7 o’clock p.m. daily (do not forget the technical break from 3 to 4 hours a day). Manhattan: Hamilton Fish Park Pool, Lower East Side

After half a century of service to the people of new York city faithfully, a little later, he survived a massive restoration, which was completed in 1992. Here’s another interesting fact (in a collection): Olympic team USA used Hamilton pool for training before the Olympics in 1952 in Helsinki. For very young swimmers there is a separate small pool.

Brooklyn: McCarren Park Pool, Greenpoint

The pool was commissioned on 31 July 1936, however, after 48 years of operation it closed. After extensive renovation, the pool reopened to the public in 2012. A few years before opening the pool, the vacant area was used for concerts and free screenings, which are now, however, in other areas of the Park.

Queens: Astoria Park Pool, Astoria

Let me introduce you to the biggest pool in new York, located at an altitude of 330 feet (91,4 m). It was opened on 4 July 1936 and that summer he made the final of the Olympic swimming competition. Don’t forget to check out the fountains in the Eastern part of the basin they spray water to a height of 25 feet (7.62 metres), and thereby acted as Olympic torches in 1936 and 1964.

Bronx: The Floating Pool Lady, The Hunts Point

This unique pool was inspired by the floating baths that were popular in the early 1900’s. The barge, which is semiology 25-metre pool, first dropped anchor in Brooklyn Bridge Park in 2007, but since 2008, its permanent place of deployment is Barretto Point Park.

Staten Island: Joseph H. Lyons Pool

The largest pool on Staten island opened on 7 July 1936 and survived a major overhaul of the 80-ies. In addition to the adult pool, there is a special pool for kids. In addition, it is very convenient to get there: the pool is just an 8-minute walk from the ferry station St. George Ferry Terminal.
