Today new York is turned into a winter Wonderland due to the overtaken city snow storm. Bad weather brought about changes in the familiar life of citizens, suspending the work of educational institutions, airports and ferry traffic, causing delays on the metro and other transport.

Forecasters warn that snowfall is not the most terrible attack, which is waiting for the East coast in the coming days. Storms will bring extreme cold, due to which the residents of the Big Apple once again will not want to go out.

However, the current storm is not the first in the history of new York. One of the snow storms have occurred in this part of the United States in March of 1888, receiving the name of the great Blizzard. Then thoroughly swept new Jersey, new York, Massachusetts and Connecticut, and the height of some of the drifts exceeded 15 meters. Many railway lines were closed on the water over 200 ships became stranded, some, unable to cope with the weather, and drowned. The country has come on really heavy days, and people were trapped in their homes for nearly a week.

A Blizzard paralyzed the East coast from Chesapeake Bay to Maine and Atlantic Canada. The result of bad weather killed more than 400 people, among them 200 in new York, where came the biggest shock of the disaster. Snowfall ended three days later, bringing with them a whole heap of other problems. One of the most critical of these was the melting of the snow. Most affected Boston and Brooklyn, which played against their geographical position.
