After the speech of Oprah Winfrey on the Sunday ceremony of awarding the prize «Golden globe», many began to wonder – and not do the famous host the presidency?
Winfrey was awarded the Cecil B. DeMille award for outstanding achievements in film. Oprah Winfrey became the first black woman to receive this award since its establishment in 1952, reports the Daily News.
In her speech, Winfrey touched on an issue about which Hollywood has been saying for months – sexual harassment and violence against women.
«What I do know: truth is the most powerful force that we have. I am especially proud of and inspired by all the women who were strong enough to share their personal stories. We are all in this year’s story,» said Winfrey from the stage.
«But this doesn’t just affect the entertainment industry. This is something that affects any culture, race, geography, religion or politics. So I want to thank all the women who for years endured abuse because they, like my mother, had children, whom they needed to feed. These women, whose names we will never know. It Housewives and farmers. They work in factories, they work in restaurants, they – the scientists, engineers, doctors, politicians, businessmen. They – the athletes at the Olympics, and they are soldiers in the army,» added Oprah.
It Winfrey present was greeted with a standing ovation and was showered with dozens of Twitter messages calling for Oprah to run for elections of the President in 2020.
«The only thing I forgot to tell Oprah: and I’m announcing my candidacy,» wrote radio host Jojo Wright.
Even Stedman Graham, Winfrey’s longtime lover, hinted that she might be persuaded. «It depends on people,» he said backstage. «She would have done it».
