The mayor of new York bill de Blasio invited to his personal residence to Russian immigrants. The reception was held in the framework of the annual festival «Our heritage» organized by the Russian American Foundation, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary.
His welcome speech de Blasio began with the fact that greeted guests in the Russian language.
«Tens of thousands of Russian-speaking people arrived in new York a few years ago or decades ago, and we are proud of this community. It makes our city stronger and better, and I want to thank all of you for this,» said de Blasio.
Despite the uneasy relationship the US and Russia, for the first time in 12 years, meeting with Russian immigrants took place in a private residence of the mayor on the banks of the East river.

Attended the reception and the police of new York- immigrants from the former Soviet Union. As said Dmitry Makarov, President of the Association of Russian-speaking officers in new York, the NYPD serve 270 immigrants from the Soviet Union — and of all the fifteen republics.
Also at the event were the wife of bill de Blasio , Mccray Shirley. She said, among other things, that her son loves Russian bath, and she’s a fan of Georgian cuisine.
Only in new York, there are about 250 thousand Russian migrants of different generations.
