In Manhattan, a man was bitten by a snake

Yesterday, on June 17, police received a call from a 52-year resident of West 45th Street in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan.
The man said that was in the kitchen when something bit his right foot, — reported in the NYPD.

As it turned out, it was a snake. It is described as long and gray, but it is not installed. The police only said that the snake was a pet of the victim, who was taken to Jacobi Medical Center. Information about his condition yet.

Recall that in March resident of Staten island was bitten by his snake while he was cleaning out her cage.

The man was alive, and he had to pay a fine. Health code new York city prohibits keeping in the homes of venomous snakes, even if they have removed venom glands. They are still classified as «wild animal, which is able to harm the man.»

Across North America about 8,000 people each year are faced with snake bites. There live four species of venomous snakes: Copperhead, rattlesnake, Copperhead and coral Viper.

How to recognize them:

Copperhead. They have oval pupils, and the color of these snakes varies from black to green. They have a white stripe on the sides of the head. Often you can find them in the water or close to it, however, they are adapted to life on earth. Young snakes have a bright yellow tail. These snakes tend to live separately, so if you see two snakes, peacefully coexisting with each other, then it is likely not a Copperhead.

Rattlesnakes. On their tail like a rattle. Some harmless snakes imitate this effect, “banging” the tail on the leaves, but only rattlesnakes tail there is something like a ratchet, like a button. Also, rattlesnakes have a triangular head and oval pupils, like cats.

Copperhead. These snakes look like a Copperhead, but only much larger, and the colors of Copperhead range from coppery brown to bright orange, silver-pink or even peach color. Of young specimens the tails are yellow.

Coral Viper. Painted coral Viper bright black, yellow and red. They have a yellow head with a black stripe on the nose. To distinguish the coral snake from other snakes of similar color you can, if you look at their color: snake red stripes surrounded by yellow, and other snakes — black. However, coral Viper rarely attack people, they are usually not aggressive.
