In the state of Colorado , the initiative group collects signatures for a ban on sales to children under the age of 13.
According to CBS, if the proposal will gain 300 thousand votes and will be accepted by results of voting in 2018, the sellers of smart phones in the state will have to ask, how old is the person for whom to buy a smartphone. In the case that they will use a child under 13 years old, the seller must refuse to sell.
If the seller violates the rule, he will have to pay a $ 500 fine.
Head of the initiative group — a local doctor and father of five children, Tim Farnum. He said that this idea came into his head when he saw how much time his children spend with smartphones. «It’s like an electronic pacifier,» says Farnum.
Farnum says that more children are not playing in the street, and almost all spend their free time with a smartphone. He believes that bans on smartphones should be the same as alcohol and cigarettes.
