Prosecutors checked 155 stores, which includes 29 retailers. 87.5% of steaks of red fish with lemon was a fake. Two-thirds of the red perch was perch lane, 28% wild salmon — salmon, grown on the farm. According to representatives of justice, all the errors were in favor of the seller, and this is more fraud than ignorance.

In the justice said among the violators are five retailers, whose markings were more than 50% mistakes: Food Bazaar Foodtown, Uncle Giuseppe’s, Western Beef and Stew Leonard’s. These companies will have to provide prosecutors information about how they have organized quality control and accounting of goods. Perhaps they are now waiting for and financial costs.

Networkers responded to the Prosecutor’s RAID in different ways. Some have already promised to improve, and perhaps new Yorkers will carry on the festive table to get the real fish. Others claim that their marking is correct.

«To this day my family and I had no idea that the imported bass can not be called «red bass», as only our perch can be called «red bass» — said in the NY Post Stew Leonard, Jr. (Stew Leonard’s). We immediately changed our labels as soon as I got a warning about this issue from the attorney General of new York».

According to a representative of Uncle Giuseppe’s, which leads to Newsday, the company is confident in his innocence: «as for the information about the product, we rely on our reputable suppliers and carry out a full investigation on our part, to ensure that the information we reported is accurate.»
