By the time Sara Rodriguez died in 2017, her daughter Elizabeth has already realized that it is not satisfied with the traditional funeral or cremation. When the body of a 91-year-old woman was taken to the crematorium, the ashes returned to her daughter, placing a biodegradable urn. The urn was buried inside a special flower pot with seeds of the olive tree. Over time, the urn turned into the soil, allowing the remains of dead women to be preoccupied with a plant. Now wood form Sarah standing on the porch of her daughter in California and grows in an automated pot that controls the woman using his phone.

Elizabeth says: «My mother was a believer, because we chose the olive tree because of its biblical significance, but also because it symbolizes peace. We wanted to plant was small enough to fit on a patio. Every time I leave home, I think of mother. I don’t see the ashes. I see the manifestation of my mom.»

Sarah was one of the first people in the world whose remains were buried in a flower pot. For 16 years, the company sold the Bios biodegradable urn, allowing it to be put in the earth the ashes of deceased people together with seeds of trees, shrubs, other plants. When the plant is in the ground, its roots begin to get out of the ashes of calcium, phosphate, sodium and potassium allows the plant to flourish.

Of course, anyone can bury ashes of the deceased person in a flower pot and plant on top of a few seeds of plants, but this approach has an important drawback.

The longing for the dead person is difficult to see how the flower is wilting on the windowsill. While returning from a trip to find that the neighbor forgot to water the flower that wilted. Elizabeth can not be afraid for this reason. Her own automated pot watering system which is connected with sensors the surface of the soil, the levels of sunlight and temperature. «I was in Puerto Rico and received updates on the status of plants over the phone,» she explains. «If the plant will be here when I die, then it will be a problem for my daughter. She will have to care for it».
